Painting a pool cage in Punta Gorda Isles is not the same job as painting one in Deep Creek. The PGI frame has lived on a sailboat canal with salt on every surface; the Deep Creek frame has lived under pines and in front of a sprinkler. Same aluminum, different preparation, and the preparation is what decides whether the new finish lasts one summer or ten.
ABC Pool Cage Painting repaints aluminum pool enclosures across Punta Gorda, including PGI, Burnt Store Isles, Burnt Store Marina, Deep Creek and the streets around the historic downtown. This page covers painting; the Punta Gorda restoration page covers structural repair and the rescreening page covers screen.
Painting on the Canals
The entire frame is stripped of oxidation mechanically, corrosion is neutralized and sealed at every fastener and cable anchor, every screw is replaced with stainless steel and the frame is primed before spraying. Docks and seawalls are protected and coating is scheduled for calm mornings. Afterward, a fresh-water rinse following windy weather is the best maintenance a canal homeowner can do.
Painting Under the Pines
Inland and in the historic district, the frame is stained by tannin and mildew rather than pitted by salt. Preparation starts with a chemical wash that dissolves the film and treats the mildew, roof channels are cleared, and well-water iron staining along the lower rail is stripped before primer. Branches touching the cage are trimmed back where the homeowner allows.
Deed Restrictions and Color
PGI, Burnt Store Isles and several other Punta Gorda communities review exterior colors. Same-color repainting is generally treated as maintenance; a change to bronze or black needs product information and a color reference, which we provide. White remains the majority finish on the canals; bronze and black have grown on renovated homes.
The Process
- Chemical wash for salt residue, chalk, mildew and iron deposits; channel clearing.
- Removal of failed coating, mechanical oxidation removal, rust treatment and stainless hardware.
- Adhesion primer and an exterior aluminum coating sprayed with the pool, deck, dock area, house and plantings masked.
- Screen replaced after cure when included; doors and chair-rail caps renewed.
Seasonal Scheduling
Many Punta Gorda owners are away in summer. We arrange access, complete the repaint before you return and send photos and the invoice electronically. Two to four working days for most single-family cages.
